(Busia, KE) - A boda-boda rider who carried President Uhuru Kenyatta when he visited Busia during the 2002 general election campaigns wants to meet him as promised. Donald Omai said Uhuru promised to meet him if elected president.

A boda-boda rider in Busia county wants to meet President Uhuru Kenyatta as promised. Donald Omai, who carried Uhuru on his motorcycle in the 2002 general election campaign, said he was promised of the meeting by the president.

The boda-boda rider said he wants to meet the president so they discuss development issues.

“After addressing the councilors, I carried him again to the polytechnic from where he told me, before boarding the helicopter, that if he became president, he would want to meet me because he had never used a motorcycle in his campaign,
“I just want to tell the president to give me a chance to meet him.” Omai said.

Omai said he has tried to reach out to the president but did not get the chance as he does not know where state house is. Omai said he has worked as a boda-boda rider for fifteen years and was warned that State House is heavily guarded.

President Uhuru Kenyatta is expected to start a tour of Busia this year coming hot on the heels of opposition leader Raila Odinga’s visit to the county. Raila’s tour of Busia is aimed at addressing the growing rebellion in the ODM party especially by members from Western Kenya.
